The 2019 Guangdong (Foshan)Artificial Intelligence Conference and the 2018 Annual Dinner of the Foshan Information Industry Association were held in Foshan on 18 January. Under the theme of “Embracing AI, intelligent connectivity, heading transformation and driving upgrading", the event attracted some 600 CIOs, CTOs, specialist and scholars.

They discussed the reconstruction and improvement of the traditional manufacturing industry by adopting AI for promoting the transformation of enterprises to intelligent manufacturing and increase their competitive strength. As an industry-leading telecom service provider, HKT was invited to hold a show at the exhibition and discuss with participating enterprises on how to promote innovation and drive development.

The Guangdong Province plan for the Development of New Generation AI issued in July 2018 proposed that efforts should be made for the systematic and strategic deployment of a new generation of AI in terms of timing and space.

The deployment would be implemented by three steps,with the aim of achieving a world-leading position for a new generation of AI in Guangdong. To achieve this, Foshan will be the home to sectors including intelligent robots, internet and intelligent manufacturing. The application of AI technologies such as in-depth learning, cross-media cognition and neural networks will be accelerated to enhance the intelligence level of industrial robots.

As a center for the upgrading and transformation of the manufacturing industry in China, Foshan has been striving to optimize the operating environment for manufacturing enterprises and encourage independent innovation. Big data and AI technologies may help enterprises to analyze full-chain data during the course of production, and achieve targets in respect of production efficiency, inventory turnover ratio and equipment utilization ratios.

The millions of intelligent equipment units and industrial robots which have been deployed in recent years will provide the “industrial brain” for AI through the feedback of huge amounts of production data to assist in further development and upgrading.

HKT hosted a booth at the conference to present the latest industry information and explore potential opportunities. Participants agreed that stable and high-speed networks were a prerequisite for manufacturingenterprises to develop AI.

The Foshan Information Industry Association acknowledged their close co-operation with HKT by  awarding the company the “Best Cooperating Entity” crystal cup.

At the presentation the association spokesperson said that in response to the national policy on AI and with the help of HKT's reliable global network and professional technical support team, they believed that more manufacturing enterprises in Foshan would help to accelerate the process of intelligentization and further expand their businesses worldwide to gain more business opportunities.
