HKT and HKTDC join forces at SmartHK 2017 thematic forum

HKT played a role in hosting the "Support Information Technology to Stimulate Global Business” seminar, as part of the “SmartHK 2017” staged by the Hong Kong Trade Development Council in Fuzhou. A total of seven seminars explored opportunities for co-operation between enterprises in Fujian and Hong Kong posed by China’s One Belt and One Road (OBOR) strategy.  As a world-class telecommunications player, HKT shared insights with experts from Alibaba, Huawei and Hong Kong Cyberport on the subject of utilizing Hong Kong’s ICT capabilities to help local companies go global.


Gilbert Mak, HKT's Vice President of China Engineering & Solutions Consultants, delivered a keynote speech at the May event entitled "Deploy High-quality Network to Connect the World Promptly", which outlined how HKT has utilized the global IP network to improve Internet performance for OBOR areas. He also told how the company is helping Hong Kong's business community to expand globally.

Leo Liu, General Manager of Alibaba Cloud-HK & Macau, offered insights the "going global" strategy adopted by enterprises in mainland China. In a presentation entitled "Alibaba, Your Way to Globalization" he said speed, experience and compliance posed three major problem areas needing solutions.


Huawei's Wang Hui emphasized the importance of digital restructuring among enterprises and synergies between "cloud, channel and device" able to create a win-win ecosystem.
The Director of the Network Solution Department of the Enterprise Business Group at Huawei Hong Kong's Representative Office gave a presentation themed "Lead New ICT to Co-construct a Connected World".


A panel discussion focused on the difficulties of going global for mainland enterprises and how SMEs can best use IT to explore new opportunities. Gilbert Mak said poor network access inevitably leads to an inferior user experience and outlined how HKT's stable connectivity and one-stop enterprise solutions help business customers prosper.
